Great so far
I just received the jacket and am impressed. All of the workmanship appears first class. I love all of the pockets, the powder skirt, zippers on the pockets and the thoughtfulness of drawstrings. It is replacing my Rocky Mountain Featherbed jacket that I have worn for 45 years. I'm sure this jacket won't last me that long (I'm turning 70 this year), but I feel it will suit me just as well. I'm 5' 10" and 185 lbs, with just a bit more weight carried in my torso than I would like. Arms fit great and length is good. With heavy layers on for really cold weather the jacket is a bit tighter than I would like in the chest/abdomen. With the powder skirt and draw cords, I think a little more space could be mad available. I would like to have a two way zipper. I'm not a hood person and rarely use one, so I would like a better way to fold it up to make a collar, but it does fit over my helmet in a way that I don't think will be obtrusive. You might edge me towards using a hood more often. After all of that I would give this a 9+ and can't wait to get it on the slopes.
Do it
Great 3L shell w/ modern fit. 5'7", 160#, went with Small. Fits perfect, though if I was any bigger it would be tight. Also brought in medium but that was slightly baggy, though length was still OK.
Technically sound and sharp look
Great jacket that handles the elements, while still looking clean on the mountain. The fit, pockets, and pit zips make this my go to both in and out of bounds!
Wetted out on Day 3 of wear
Bought this jacket based on the awesome reviews and love most of its features, but after 2 days of wear skiing I wore it in the rain for 20min hike and it wetted out with zero beading evident. Will have to try and revive the DWR, but not what I expect from a brand new jacket
Perfect freeride jacket
Great jacket!! Material (eVent) is very breathable, I do a lot of hiking and it's so much more pleasant than heavier materials; doesn't get clamy, less loud, and still waterproof enough for a full day in a storm. Long cut keeps you protected on the chairlift andnand thumb loops keep the shell sealed to your gloves. Pockets are numerous, large, and well thought out. Chest pockets are large enough for skins, heavy duty mittens, nalgenes/tallboys, anything you'd need to bring. Hood will cover a helmet but smal enough to not block peripheral vision. Cut is perfect, roomy without being overly baggy and in the way. Over 6 seasons and going strong. I would 100% buy this jacket again.
